Strong wind gusts during a thunderstorm Tuesday evening, September 11 downed a large maple tree near the First Congregational Church (The White Church) in Spencerport. At right, Butch Rypma, a lineman with the village electric department, and other public works employees prepare to remove the fallen tree early last Wednesday morning. Workers said the church was spared any damage thanks to the angle in which the tree fell into another larger and stronger tree near the church.
