Brittany Solt has received acceptance into the Messiah College Education Program and has completed Part I of the Praxis teaching exam. She is a junior at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania where she is majoring in music education. The college has awarded her a Vollmer Music Scholarship and a Faculty Scholarship.
She is a member of the Symphonic Winds, Jazz Band, Brass Quintet and Concert Choir. She is active as a peer leader, secretary for the Music Educator's National Council and involved in student government. At church she volunteers as a children's leader and participates in choir. Solt graduated from Brockport High School in 2005. Locally she received the honor of a Marie Dollar McGrath Elementary Education Scholarship. During this past summer she was employed as a staff counselor for the Spencerport Recreation Department, taught private trumpet lessons and served as a VBS Music Director at Brockport Free Methodist Church.
She is the daughter of Garland and Susan Solt of Brockport.
Molly Long is a sophomore at Byron-Bergen who has devoted much of her time in a volunteer capacity. She was a Teen Leader at the local Genesee County Fair and attended the New York State Fair where some of her exhibits were displayed. While there, she helped set up exhibits and assisted with various booths.
She also committed to helping those in need, and traveled to Binghamton to help families clean up after the floods that hit that area. Long is member of the Byron-Bergen Emergency Response Team, and during the summer received training in First Aid and CPR/AED. She was also a road marshall for the Rochester Marathon which was a fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation. This fall, she will volunteer at the Genesee Country Museum in their "Spirits of the Past Tour," and will attend the Revolve Tour in Philadelphia. She will also travel to Rhinebeck, New York for the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival. Throughout her busy schedule, she excels in her studies.
