Emma Long

B-B student tapped
by governor for panel

Invited by Governor Spitzer's office, Emma Long, a senior at Byron-Bergen High School, participated in a panel discussion at the "I Live New York" summit held at SUNY Cortland on September 18. The summit, a part of the Brain Drain initiative to keep talented young people in our state, was convened by the New York State's First Lady, Silda Wall Spitzer.

Long met the Governor at the State Fair last month and he was impressed with her extensive knowledge of the Global Positioning System (GPS), a satellite-based navigation system that works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day without subscription fees or setup charges.

According to a press release from the First Lady's office, this initiative will specifically target New Yorkers aged 18-40 and look to address the issues affecting young New Yorkers professionally, socially and economically. The initiative will place special emphasis on the critical years after students graduate from college.
