Cartons for Christmas project kicks off

SPENCERPORT - The Ecumenical Council of area churches will sponsor the annual Cartons for Christmas community project that brings together churches, schools, service organizations, businesses and individuals interested in lending a hand to help local families for the holidays. Last year the group served 92 local families and provided toys for 219 children.

Donations of canned, boxed and bagged foods are accepted for Cartons for Christmas. Donations of money are also needed to buy perishables for each family. Make checks payable to Cartons for Christmas.

An Open House will be held to accept donations at St. John the Evangelist School gym, off Martha Street in the village of Spencerport on Friday, November 30 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Food cartons will be delivered during the afternoon of Saturday, December 1.

Beginning November 12, stop in at Spencerport Insurance, 147 South Union Street, and select an angel from the “Toy Tree.”

Early drop-off locations (November 12 to November 30) for non-perishable food items are: Nothnagle Realtors, 85 South Union Street and Spencerport Federal Credit Union, 2775 Spencerport Road.
