Rev. F. Dean Nemecek, area pastor
The Reverend F. Dean Nemecek was called to his heavenly home on October 25, 2007 at the age of 82. Dean was a soldier, an educator and a pastor. He served in WWII from 1943-1946. He fought in the left hook of the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. Upon his return from the service, he earned degrees from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Northern Baptist Seminary in Chicago, Northern University in Dekalb, Illinois and his doctorate at Loyola University in Chicago.
Dean, along with his wife, Sylvia, and their four children, moved to North Chili when he became the Dean of Students at Roberts Wesleyan College in 1970 and continued in this role for eleven years. In 1975 the "Chesbronian," the RWC yearbook, was dedicated to him.
Upon leaving Roberts, he then served as Chaplain for the State of New York while serving the Lincoln Baptist Church in Wayne County part time for the next five years. After retirement, he served thirteen churches as interim pastor. In the immediate area he served at Ogden Baptist, Parma Community Baptist, Greece Baptist, Hilton Baptist and Holley Baptist, as well as Waring Baptist in Rochester.
Rev. Nemecek put up a good fight against severe osteoporosis, multiple myeloma cancer, and other conditions pressing on his lungs for the past three and one-half years. In the end he also had a blood clot in his lungs and succumbed to pulmonary embolism. He lived a very restricted life at home for all of this time. His only outings were to the hospital and doctor's appointments. However, he continued to write devotionals each week that went out to his extended family and many friends and had a continued ministry until his death.
