Brockport Fine Arts celebrates sold-out performances of A Few Good Men

Last weekend, the SUNY Brockport Theatre Department and Fine Arts Series marked a milestone with the sold-out run of A Few Good Men by Aaron Sorkin. The production, guest-directed by Sofia Ubilla, captivated audiences with its powerful performances and timely exploration of integrity, duty, and justice.

All five performances played to packed houses at the Tower Fine Arts Center Black Box Theatre, reflecting the talent and dedication of the cast, crew, and production team. The audience response was overwhelming, with attendees praising the emotional depth and intensity of the production.

The opening night was made even more special through a collaboration with the Academic Success Center, which hosted a reception to celebrate the production. The reception featured inspiring speeches by Command Sergeant (Retired) Albert Buchinski and Sofia Ubilla, who shared their insights on the themes of the play and its relevance to current issues. As part of this partnership, a limited number of free tickets were offered to transfer and military-affiliated students, providing them with an opportunity to experience the performance and engage with the arts community.

“It was incredible to see such a strong turnout for this production,” said Anna Burklin, Fine Arts Series Manager. “The cast delivered unforgettable performances, and the support from the Brockport community was inspiring. It’s a testament to the passion for the arts that thrives here.”

The production featured an ensemble of talented actors, including Sydney Johnson, Jake Tomtishen, and Jeffrey Thompson, who brought their characters to life with skill. Behind the scenes, the technical team, including set designers, lighting experts, costume and stage crew, worked tirelessly to create an immersive and visually stunning experience.

The sell-out success of A Few Good Men underscores the growing enthusiasm for the performing arts at Brockport. With more exciting productions and events lined up for the semester, the Theatre Department and Fine Arts Series continue to enrich the campus and broader community through world-class artistry.
