Skills on Display: BOCES 2 CTE Students Shine at SkillsUSA Regionals

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Career and Technical Education students demonstrated their skills on March 3 at the SkillsUSA New York Area 1 Regionals, bringing home six-first place finishes and medals in six additional competitions.

Six BOCES 2 CTE students claimed first place in their respective competitions. Introduction to Construction Trades student Ryan Devine (Brockport) earned gold in Carpentry Assistant Basic. Carpentry student Collin Irons (Gates Chili) took the top spot in Carpentry. Baking student Grace King (Greece) was the best in Commercial Baking. Medical Laboratory Assisting and Phlebotomy student Adjoua Koffi (Gates Chili) led the competition in Extemporaneous Speaking. Automotive Technology student Patrick Riscignolo (Hilton) was the top finisher in Automotive Service Technology. Medical Laboratory Assisting and Phlebotomy student Alexis Schwab (Greece) claimed first place in Prepared Speech.

Three BOCES 2 CTE students achieved second-place finishes in their respective competitions:  Culinary Arts student Max Baetzold (Churchville-Chili) in Food Preparation Basic, Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance student Christopher Brown (Gates Chili) in Precision Heavy Equipment Operations, and Carpentry student Joseph Marshall (Hilton) in Carpentry.

Individual third-place finishes were earned by three BOCES 2 CTE students: Nurse Assisting and Associated Health Careers student Madison Hart (Hilton) in Prepared Speech, Residential and Commercial Electrical student Ryan Kropidlowski (Churchville-Chili) in Electrical Construction Wiring, and Medical Laboratory Assisting and Phlebotomy student Brooke Nieskes (Spencerport) in Action Skills Basic.

These students will go on to demonstrate their workplace skills, personal skills, and technical skills grounded in academics at the state competition on April 22-24.
