Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum

Opening May 16 for 2026 Season
The Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum will begin its 2026 season on Saturday, May 16. The Depot will be open for limited hours in May, Thursday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning May 16. Summer hours will begin in June and will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The museum is looking for new volunteers this season, so anyone with a couple of hours to spare and who would like to know more is asked to email Patty Uttaro at director@spencerportmuseum.org. Volunteers typically work at least one two-hour shift a week, June through August. They welcome guests to the museum, give brief remarks on the exhibits, and distribute information packets to canal travelers. Last year, the museum welcomed over 280 boats to its dock as well as bicyclists and walkers traveling the canal. Guests visited Spencerport from all over the globe, but there were also plenty of visitors from nearby.
The popular “The Historian Is IN!” program will return this season, with Village of Spencerport Historian Virginia Parker and Town of Ogden Historian Jesse Diehl available on specific days to answer local history questions. Dates will be set soon. In addition, the museum will host a local history book club this season, using books by author Arch Merrill. Information on that program will be released later in May.
The Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum is located along the canal at 16 East Avenue, Spencerport. For more information, contact Patty Uttaro at director@spencerportmuseum.org.
