World-Renowned Composer to Premiere New Work with Greece Student Musicians

The Greece Central School District will host internationally recognized band and orchestra composer Randall Standridge for a two-day residency on May 27 and 28. Throughout the residency, Standridge will lead intensive rehearsals and clinics with the Greece Elementary, Middle, and High School Honor Bands, as well as the Greece Marching Band. These sessions offer students rare, direct insight into the creative process and performance interpretation.

Highlighting this special event is the world premiere of March of the Frost Giants, a piece commissioned by the district especially for its students. The Middle School Honor Band will debut the work at the Greece Performing Arts Center (GPAC), conducted by the composer himself.

In addition to the premiere, the Elementary, Middle, and High School Honor Bands will perform selections from Standridge’s UnBroken Project, a series dedicated to fostering awareness and conversation regarding mental health and resilience. The community is invited to experience this landmark performance on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at GPAC, 800 Long Pond Road. Admission is free. Come experience the power of live music and celebrate the incredible hard work and talent of Greece student musicians alongside one of the industry’s most visionary composers.
