Ferris Goodridge Auxiliary Unit #330 Supports Local Veterans

Collecting Non-Perishable Food Donations
The Ferris Goodridge Auxiliary Unit #330 recently demonstrated its strong commitment to local veterans through a community‑wide donation effort benefiting the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) on Mt. Hope Avenue.
On Sunday, April 26, a group of Auxiliary members, led by Karen McLaughlin, and students from Spencerport High School assembled care packages for veterans in need. A total of 37 purses were filled for female veterans, containing toiletries, personal care items, $5 gift cards, and other essentials.
In addition, the group collected and donated items for male veterans, including socks, underwear, T‑shirts, and toiletries. Recognizing the needs of veterans with families, the volunteers also gathered backpacks, stuffed animals, small games, puzzles, and juice boxes for children. These items were packed into boxes and other containers for distribution.
The donations were delivered to the Veterans Outreach Center on Monday, April 27. Items for female veterans were then distributed to Otto’s Phoenix House, while men’s donations were delivered to Richards House. Children’s items were shared between both locations.
In support of the VOC’s food pantry, Ferris Goodridge Auxiliary Unit #330 will be collecting food pantry staples throughout the months of May and June. Community members are encouraged to donate canned goods such as vegetables, fruit, tuna, juices, and pasta. A collection box will be located inside the main entrance for easy drop‑off.
Those who prefer to make a monetary donation may do so by writing a check payable to ALA #330 and mailing it to ALA #330, 691 Trimmer Road, Spencerport, NY 14559, Attn: Michelle Zinner, President. Please include “VOC Food Donation” in the memo line.
The Auxiliary extends its sincere thanks to everyone in the community who contributed to this meaningful project. Through these combined efforts, many veterans working to rebuild their lives after serving our country received much-needed support and encouragement.
Another donation drive is planned for November.
