Free Emergency Preparedness Training

Living Water World Wide Ministries will be hosting an emergency preparedness program conducted by the New York National Guard at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22, for Rochester residents. The Living Water World Wide Ministries church is located at 707 East Main Street in Rochester.

The 90-minute event is part of the New York State Citizens Preparedness Corps program, which teaches New Yorkers how to prepare for a disaster, respond, and then recover as quickly as possible. The training course outlines the ways your family can respond to a natural or man-made disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.

Participants will receive a training certificate, a family emergency plan booklet, a pamphlet listing recommended items to store, and a starter “go kit” filled with items that can help in an emergency, ranging from duct tape and plastic sheeting to a transistor radio. They will also learn how to report suspicious activity and potential threats to authorities with the free “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.

Registration is encouraged and can be made by visiting https://www.dhses.ny.gov/citizen-preparedness-training-calendar.
