Terry Ann Carbone Recognized

ACT for Education Community Champion

Terry Ann Carbone was honored as the Brockport Central School District ACT for Education Community Champion for Public Education in recognition of her dedication and service to the district. A breakfast and award presentation was held on the morning of May 8, 2026, at the Paychex Junior Achievement Discovery Center, where Mrs. Carbone was joined by district administrators and fellow Board of Education members to celebrate the honor.

Mrs. Carbone has dedicated her life to supporting public education and the success of K–12 students. She was elected to the Board of Education for the Brockport Central School District in 2014 and re-elected in 2019 and 2024, serving as Board President from 2018 to 2023. She continues to contribute through the Board’s Brockport’s Best, Budget, and Instructional Committees and as an alternate for the District Safety Committee.

Her commitment to education began long before her service on the board. After earning her BA, MS, and CAS from The College at Brockport, she began her career in 1969 as a kindergarten teacher and went on to serve students and educators for more than four decades. Over the course of her career, she held numerous leadership roles, including Elementary Principal, High School Principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Director of Research and Development, before retiring in 2011 as Superintendent of Schools for the Lockport City School District.

Even in retirement, Mrs. Carbone remains deeply involved in strengthening local public schools and the Brockport community. She is a founding member of the Building Excellence in Students Today (BEST) Brockport Education Foundation and an active volunteer who supports district and community initiatives, including the Summer/Winter Serenades committee. A lifelong advocate for public education, she consistently inspires community support for schools through her leadership, service, and example.
