The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) will welcome New York Times best-selling author Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney for a special evening celebrating her newest novel, Lake Effect, on Thursday, July 23, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Set in part in Rochester, Lake Effect features several local landmarks, including the Memorial Art Gallery, where the museum’s Fountain Court plays a memorable role in the story. During the program, Sweeney will discuss Lake Effect, reflect on her visits to MAG while researching the novel, and share how artworks from the museum’s collection inspired her story. The evening begins with an author presentation at 6 p.m. in the auditorium, followed by a book signing at 7 p.m. in the Vanden Brul Pavilion.
Tickets are $10 for adults, free for MAG members and University of Rochester students, faculty, and staff, and $4.50 for college students and teens.
