Churchville-Chili teacher Andrea Lynch was one of only 100 teachers across the country selected to receive a professional development scholarship from the award-winning STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) curriculum Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®), a project of the Museum of Science, Boston.
This award, given to teachers in high need schools, includes tuition and travel to attend a two-day EiE professional development workshop at the Museum of Science, Boston and a complete set of EiE curriculum materials.
Lynch is excited about this opportunity and what it will mean to her students.
“Engineering is Elementary is an inquiry based STEM curriculum that can help students develop lifelong skills of thinking and reasoning based on the engineering design process. Through this program, I am excited to help teachers show students how to solve problems systematically – creating skills, optimism and attitudes that are important for their future,” she said. Lynch will head to Boston on March 10 for her training.
EiE is a nationally known, classroom-tested curriculum backed by research that shows it enhances student achievement and interest in STEM and STEM careers.
