Brockport opened with two decisions, but dropped the next six and forfeited two others in a 44-22 loss to the Red Raiders in varsity wrestling.
Troy Ferris fell behind 5-0 in the first period of his match-opening bout at 138 lb. before registering an escape. He had a takedown and three back points in the second period in his 6-5 decision.
Simeon Horton followed at 145 lb. netting five first period points on his way to a 10-2 major decision.
Nick Ferrell broke up Fairport’s six-match run with a late third period pin in 5:49 at 220 lb.
Cody Anders registered the Blue Devils’ other fall in 1:15 at 113 lb. after he had a pair of takedowns.
Jake Davies was Brockport’s other winner as he had a third period escape and takedown to break up a 4-4 tie and win 7-4 at 126 lb.
Brockport was fresh off their win at the Batavia Christmas Wrestling Tournament.
