Hilton Civic Beautification Award given

Hilton BeautificationAt the September Village of Hilton Board Meeting, Walt Horylev congratulated Gary Inzana (left) for winning the Walt Horylev Civic Beautification award for 2013. Gary won the award, a plaque that recognized his outstanding renovation of the old hardware store at 9-11 South Avenue in Hilton. “The building is now an asset to the central business district,” Horylev noted. The structure, the oldest commercial building in Hilton, was vacant for a considerable time before being purchased by Inzana and now houses a new hardware store: the Lakeshore Supply Company. Built in 1880, the building originally was owned by True D. Matson and served as a combined general and hardware establishment. It survived the disastrous fire of 1895 which destroyed all the buildings between it and East Avenue.
