Volunteers pack 47 backpacks for Hilton’s Cadet Cupboard

HUMC backpacks

Volunteers from the Hilton United Methodist Church recently packed 47 backpacks to donate to Hilton Central School District students. Backpacks for older students contain three-ring binders, lined paper, notebooks, folders, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, a pencil case, glue sticks and erasers. Backpacks for the elementary students include composition books, folders, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, glue sticks, and a pencil case.

The backpacks will be distributed to students in need as part of the Cadet Cupboard program. Hilton School District, in conjunction with the Hilton Education Foundation, operates the Cadet Cupboard in order to provide food for students in need during weekends and school breaks. During summer vacation, the Hilton United Methodist Church oversees the program making food, along with back-to-school supplies, available to at-risk families identified by school counselors.
