A game developer’s inspirational journey
Hear a presentation of “Lual Mayen: A Game Developer’s Inspirational Journey” at The Strong Museum on Friday, October 11 at 1 p.m. Mayen will talk about his life as a refugee in northern Uganda and how it led to his love of video games.
“Lual’s career is a wonderful example of a person using their skills for good,” says Cathy DeBellis, director of public programs. “He persevered through his life experiences as a refugee and channeled his passion for video games to create Salaam, a game that teaches peace and conflict resolution. We hope that guests and members attending this inspirational talk will leave filled with ideas on how to use their talents to help others in their community.”
Mayen is the founder of Junub Games, which utilizes gaming to build bridges between communities. In 2018, Mayen was named a Global Gaming Citizen at The Game Awards. He is currently working with Facebook to publish Salaam as an instant game.
This presentation is included with general museum admission fees. Visit www.museumofplay.org for information.
