Rochester woman serving aboard USNS Mercy
Lt. j.g. Daniela Jenkins (right), from Omaha, Nebraska, teaches Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Tamarra Francois (left), from Rochester, New York how to administer medication through an orogastric tube aboard the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) on April 16.
Orogastric tubes are small tubes placed through either the nose or the mouth and end with the tip in the stomach. Mercy deployed to Los Angeles, California, in support of the nation’s COVID-19 response efforts, and will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals.
