Skate Park Construction Grant Awarded to Town of Greece
Last year, the Greece Parks and Recreation Department worked diligently to create a detailed plan for a new Skate Park in the Town of Greece to submit for the grant. There were many requirements that needed to be met in order to successfully submit the application for the grant. Some of those requirements were a plan ensuring the town had an appropriate location, engagement with a local architect to discuss size, options, feasibility, and potential layout, and the ever important step of having letters of support from our community as well as a Skate Park Advocate on board.
All the planning has paid off. On January 26, 2022, it was announced that the Town of Greece has been awarded the Built to Play Skatepark Grant. This is a major step to build and open a brand new public skate park in the Town of Greece for our residents.
“I would personally like to thank our Parks and Recreation management, as well as many members of our administration, from various departments that all stepped up to get the grant submitted with a very short submission window,” said Supervisor Reilich. “The grant process was heavily driven by community support and engagement, and I want to thank everyone that submitted letters of support for the project. My team and I are excited to continue bringing new and innovating options to our town that foster free play and exercise within our community.”
