Hawryschuk, Cosgrove, Hyde net hat tricks in first lacrosse shutout

Sophomore Emily Hawryschuk figured in on seven goals scoring three and adding four assists, while freshman Katie Cosgrove added four goals and junior Jessica Hyde three, to lead Churchville-Chili to an 18-0 victory over the Greece Lightning in girls lacrosse.

Senior keeper Amber Wheeler had one save in registering the programs first game shutout.

Hawryschuk and Hyde staked the Saints to a 2-0 lead with goals in the first minute of the contest and they took control as Cosgrove (2), Hawryschuk and Mara Zimmerman tallied four goals over just 34 seconds to make it 6-0.

Using lots of motion in the offensive third, the Saints were patient in waiting for a cutter to come open throughout the first half.
Kendall Skuse scored the first of her two goals at 6:35, Hyde converted an Olivia Kuter pass at 9:08 and Cosgrove netted an unassisted goal at 11:30 to make it 9-0 halfway through the first half.

Hawryschuk completed her hat trick at 12:40 to send the game into running time before Kassiani Strembenis found the back of the net off a pass from Hyde at 14:40.

Cosgrove scored her fourth of the game and Hyde her third just minutes apart before Cheyenne Clark and Skuse finished the first half scoring with tallies over the final 3:45.

In the second half, Amy Sedita scored off a pass from Taylor Russell seven minutes in, Skuse had an unassisted goal and Emily Geraci finished the offensive explosion with a goal with 90 seconds remaining.

The 11-4 Saints were set to battle Hilton with the victor winning taking the Monroe County 3 division crown.
