Girl Scout Troop #60727 of Spencerport earned the Bronze Award, the highest honor in Junior Scouting, for their community service project of maintaining and enhancing the reading garden at the Ogden Farmers’ Library.

The troop has planted, weeded and maintained the Reading Garden since Summer 2013. This year, the girls have also added other items to make reading outside an enjoyable experience. The girls made sit-upons (soft mats for sitting outside), a fairy garden, hanging tree decorations, stepping stones and added adult seating.

In addition, they added new plants, both annuals and perennials and mulched the garden.

The opening of the garden and completion of the project will be celebrated at the Ogden Farmers’ Library Reading Garden on Tuesday, June 3 at an open house from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the garden and adjoining community room.
