Where is Martin Luther King when we need him?

Dear Editor,
America has no effective advocate for the poor and oppressed, widows and orphans.

Our business class and their banker buddies certainly aren’t going to step up.

Many state legislatures have minority populations at the bottom of their agenda.
Universities are too busy building football stadiums and looking at themselves in the mirror.

Churches are in no position to enlighten or help. They have their hands full with their own memberships and lack interest in the unchurched except as potential converts.

Public interest groups and welfare rights folks have good hearts, but poor memories. They know little about traditionally effective historical approaches to justice and equity.

Maybe a hot football coach, weather anchor, or movie star could be tapped to lead us to the promised land?
