Spencerport artist featured at Hart Gallery 27 in Brockport
During the month of November, the work of artists studying at Stony Point Art Studio in Ogden will be on display at Hart Gallery 27, 27 Market Street, in the village of Brockport.
Spencerport resident, Rita Dean, is the featured artist of the show. Thirty of her original works will be on display in the Main Gallery. This is Rita’s first solo art exhibit. She said, “I am really excited, and a little nervous.” Rita said painting and attending classes at Stony Point has become a really important part of her life. She has been painting at Stony Point for six years, and has explored all mediums of painting. “I started out with colored pencils, and worked my way through experimenting with all different types of paint. Oil is my favorite, but I enjoy the challenge of learning about different styles and paints. Painting is relaxing, but intense. I find myself really engaged in my work and everything else is just out there,” she said. For inspiration she turns to Pinterest, looking for ideas. “I see something that sparks my interest, and I just go from there.”
Rita’s paintings will include landscapes, horses, animals, fantasy works, country scenes, barns and Christmas pictures. Her subject matter is chosen by what she loves – horses are a favorite. Rita is an avid horseback rider, riding her horse, Fancy Red Sugar through all four seasons. Rita lives in Spencerport with her husband, Ardell.
The Upstairs Gallery will feature a variety of works from Stony Point Art Studio artists. “The artists at Stony Point Art Studio range in age and visual art experience; they work in a variety of mediums with an even broader variety of subjects. Students express themselves with projects of their choosing, sometimes in an exercise to explore a new medium, other times in a personal endeavor to capture a moment in time on canvas. As their teacher, I am honored to be a part of the process and journey that allows them to create. Being able to share their talents is a gift for both the artists and the community,” said Jeannine Pelusio, owner and instructor, Stony Point Art Studio.
All artwork will be on display for the entire month of November, with an opening night reception on Friday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be refreshments and the opportunity to meet the artists.
