Greece Post 468 Polar Cubs Top Fundraising Team for Polar Plunge for 2nd Year
Greece American Legion Post 468 Polar Cubs Team has participated in Rochester’s Polar Plunge for the last 13 years.
Post 468 Polar Cubs Team raised over $25,000 for this year’s Polar Plunge and was the Top Fundraising Team for the 2nd year in a row. Led by team Captains Wendy Coccitti and Marion Palumbo, the team holds fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for Special Olympics. Fundraisers include Euchre and Bowling Tournaments and occasional lunches and dinners prepared at the Legion. “We are all very proud of the money that our team has raised,” said team Captain Wendy Coccitti.
This year’s Post 468 Polar Cubs team had 49 members, representing all the organizations at the Greece American Legion, with 24 of those members taking the plunge into Lake Ontario. One member and her husband come from Florida to participate every year. Their grandson, who was born with disabilities, passed away at a very early age and has been a inspiration to many of us who knew him.
Rochester Polar Plunge raises money for the Special Olympics, supporting programs and services that provide year-round training and competitions to over 3,500 local athletes with intellectual disabilities. This year’s Polar Punge was on Feb 4th and all the money raised makes a significant difference in the lives of these athletes and their families. We at the Greece American Legion are committed to helping our community.
