Registration open for camps at GCV&M
Throughout the year, Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford offers camps that immerse children in history, art, and science. Registration is now open for both Spring Break Camp (April 1 through 5) and Summer Camp (July 8 through August 30) at GCV&M. Young adventurers will make memories that last a life time – on the nature trails, in the newly renovated Nature Center, in the 19th-century village, and in the John L. Wehle Gallery.
Spring Break campers will get to enjoy the most popular activities from both Earth Camp and History Camp classes during one fun-filled week at GCV&M. Each day will provide participants with new experiences such as hiking the trails of the Nature Center, observing the ponds, playing games, and making one-of-a-kind crafts. The fun doesn’t stop there. Each class will spend time exploring the Historic Village, learning from talented townspeople, helping with chores, and discovering what spring was like on a 19th-century farm.
GCV&M offers several Summer Camp options. Offerings include “Fairytales & Fables” and “Fun on the Farm” for campers ages four to six; “Stitching Through Time,” “Quills, Slates & Graces,” “Farm Kids,” and “History Play” for ages seven through 10; and “Girls Academy,” “Jack of All Trades,” “Beginning Hearth Cooking,” and “Confections” for ages 11 through 15.
If your child too old for camp, but still looking for something to do during break this year, GCV&M offers youth leadership training in the form of a Volunteer Class Assistant Program. Participants in this program will gain hands-on experience working within a nationally accredited living history museum. They will assist with camp activities under the mentorship of experienced camp teachers. In order to qualify, applicants must be at least 15 years old and have attended at least one week of camp, or volunteered for 20 hours or more in the Historic Village or Nature Center.
