SUNY Brockport librarian earns award funded by James Patterson
Librarian Kellie Barbato was selected to receive one of the 250 “bonuses” awarded to librarians by the American Library Association (ALA) funded by a $50,0000 donation from bestselling author James Patterson.
Patterson celebrated the release of his latest nonfiction title, The Secret Lives of Booksellers & Librarians, with a donation to the ALA, gifting select members a “bonus” of $200. All ALA members were eligible if they, or somebody else, filled out the nomination form by April 30, 2024, explaining why the nominee is great librarian deserving of the award.
Barbato earned the award for her work as the Head of Research and Instruction Services at Drake Memorial Library. She joined the staff in January 2024 and leads a team of librarians who provide individual research assistance to students and information literacy instruction to classes.
Barbato was announced as one of the 250 winners at the 2024 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition held in San Diego from June 27 through July 2, 2024.
