Clarkson Historical Society preparing for Summer Camp

Mrs. Hale, the Town of Clarkson’s historian, recently met with student volunteers to teach them recess activities for this year’s Summer Camp at the historic Clarkson Academy. The Summer Camp is for 20 students going into fourth and fifth grades. This four-day experience will be held Monday, August 19, through Thursday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Activities include: lessons in cursive writing, reading, history, music, and recess – all typical at schools, including one-room schools, in the 1940s and 50s.

The summer camp is $10 per student to cover the cost of supplies. Registration forms are in the Clarkson Town Hall and online at http://clarksonhistoricalsociety.org under the “Events” section.
