Annika D’Andrea, president/CEO of Tender Loving Family Care, LLC is the new owner of the Erie Canal Schoolhouse. This schoolhouse was once St. Mary’s Catholic School, a Bed and Breakfast (B&B) and currently an assisted living and family type home for adults. D’Andrea purchased this Historical Home in order to expand her strong desire to help the elderly and family caregivers in the community.
The home previously was owned by Lou and Jeri Becker. The Beckers purchased the schoolhouse in 2004 adding the much needed TLC and turning it into a B&B. Previously this was a building that serviced many of St. Mary’s past students and the community.
“This is a true landmark. From a school where children played and learned, a B&B that beautifully restored the rich history of the school, now the perfect place for our loved ones. Our seniors will live a well dignified life in a comfortable, safe and professional home environment. Our residents and adult day care visitors will enjoy maximum independence, freedom and comfort while receiving the quality assistance they need,” D’Andrea said.
This has become TLFC’s second family type home for adults, social adult day program and respite care. The homes are equipped with six or more spacious private resident bedrooms, most with private bathrooms; libraries and piano rooms; family rooms and recreation rooms; elevator and stair chair; security system and security doors and well maintained outdoor gardens.
The homes offer residents the option to live with up to six other adults in a fun and friendly environment. The residents and families enjoy family meals, picnics and cook outs and family parties, holiday celebrations and outings.
The Social Adult Program benefits family members and caregivers by allowing them to rejuvenate or simply accomplish daily chores, knowing their loved one is in a structured, supervised, active and caring environment. The program includes structured activities and social programs, fitness and wellness programs, entertainment, personal care as needed, hot meals and nutritious snacks, comfortable accommodations, transportation to doctor appointments by arrangement and flexible hours and schedules.
