Joe’s stories – old, new, mostly true

A Father’s Day to remember
The weekend began on Friday the 13th, which is our daughter Regina’s birthday. Her son Cecil, a Nashville musician and sound engineer, and his friend Victoria, a musician and songwriter from Alabama, came up to visit and attend a concert in Buffalo on Saturday. We had an enjoyable picnic-style party. On Sunday, they returned to Spencerport but were joined by my grandson Garrett, a banker in Kalispel, Montana, and his friend Lindsay, who is a Casino manager there. Garrett stepped out of his rental vehicle and was giving me a hug before I realized who it was. It seems like they wanted to surprise us, which they certainly did. On Monday, about 10 of us went out for dinner and back to the house for desserts of several types.
As we sat and talked, I couldn’t help but think of my parents who bought this farm 96 years ago and hosted many gatherings over the years.
They certainly would be proud and, in fact, probably shared in our toasts to the past and future. This was one “for the books” as they say.
