Spencerport Fire District Open House: October 11 at Station 3

The Spencerport Fire District invites the community to join them for their annual Open House on Sunday, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Station 3, located at 2588 South Union Street.

This is a fun and family-friendly opportunity to meet the firefighters who serve our community, explore the firehouse, learn about fire safety, and get an up-close look at the equipment and resources volunteers use every day.

Activities will be available for the whole family, with plenty of opportunities for children and adults alike to learn more about fire safety in an engaging, hands-on environment.

Charging into Fire Safety
This year’s Open House also caps off Fire Prevention Week, held annually in October. This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety. Safe Charging is a Superpower.”

The campaign focuses on the safe use and charging of everyday devices powered by lithium-ion batteries. From cell phones and tablets to power tools, e-bikes, scooters, and other rechargeable devices, lithium-ion batteries are part of our daily lives. While convenient and powerful, they can become dangerous if damaged, improperly charged, or used incorrectly.

Open House attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how to safely charge lithium-ion batteries and what warning signs to watch for. Recognizing those warning signs early can help prevent a battery failure from becoming a serious fire.

Firefighters will be on hand to answer questions and share practical fire prevention tips to use in your own home.

Learn more about how to safely charge your devices from the National Fire Protection Association at https://www.nfpa.org/events/fire-prevention-week.
