Paintings by Len Ippolito on display at the Parma Public Library

Len Ippolito’s early career found him teaching math and physics. Later he entered a purely technical world where he worked as a tech writer, a tech instructor and as a member of a tech support team. Now, he is painting pictures in oils and acrylics.

This transformation began in 2010 when Len was presented with some extra time on his hands. He first explored woodcarving and with the creation of his wooden figures grew a desire to study drawing as a means to improve his sculptures. It then came to him that he had always loved drawing and that even as a young child he would watch John Negi’s drawing show on TV. He also recounted that his parents had supplied him with a “John Negi Learn to Draw Set.” Along his time-line, Len also turned to photography as a creative medium.

Now, Len has brought the power of all of his interests together in his paintings. He is not shy to place figures in his landscapes. He retains a love for drawing that spans the architectural strengths of buildings and bridges as well as the soft contours of landscapes. He has also managed to carry over a backlit aspect to his paintings. This was a feature that had fascinated him earlier when he worked with photography.

This show is the thirty-fifth in a series of exhibitions hosted by the Parma Public Library featuring local area artists and photographers. His show will remain on display in the Parma Public Library Gallery through November.
