Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band to present first annual Community Christmas Concert
The Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band will perform its first Community Christmas Concert on Friday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the Hilton Baptist Church. The free public concert will feature standard concert band music and Christmas music, including works by Leroy Anderson, Clifton Williams, Charles Carter, Richard Rodgers, Clare Grundman, Robert Lowden and James Swearingen. The program will also include the premier performance of a composition, “Roumanian Christmas,” written by the band’s conductor, Charles P. Schmidt.
The Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band is an all-volunteer organization, made up of musicians from across Monroe and Orleans counties. The band was founded in 1984 by Hilton music educator, Gordon Bascom. The band performs throughout the Greater Rochester Area and the band provides music to the Hilton community through its annual series of summer concerts at the Gazebo at Centennial Park.
