Holiday Parade of Lights now in third year in Brockport

The Third Annual Holiday Lights Spectacular in Brockport is set for Sunday, December 8 and features the community parade which kicks off at 5 p.m. The parade makes its way down Main Street in the downtown business district.

Brockport Police Stetson Club President Brian Winant says, “It’s as big, if not bigger, than last year. We encourage people to come out to Brockport. We’re hoping for another year of good weather.”

The tree lighting ceremony will be held following the parade at Sagawa Park and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will take part in the festivities.   Fireworks immediately follow the parade and tree lighting ceremony.

“The fireworks are thanks to the generous donation of Sunnking Electronics Recycling,” Winant says.

Celebrity parade MCs are Jeremy “Newman” from the WBEE Morning Coffee Club and Amanda Ciavarri from WHEC-TV 10 News.

Officer Winant says that families should come early in the day to enjoy the village and to Christmas shop the downtown shops.

Other activities planned on the 8th include Photos with Santa at 3 p.m. at the Morgan Manning House, 151 Main Street, sponsored by the Western Monroe Historical Society. Merchants will be holding open houses in the downtown commercial district during the day, as well.
The Brockport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Community Santa Secret Holiday Shop from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at the Market Street Fire Hall. Children ages 5-12 can shop for their parents and others on their lists. All items are under $5 and refreshments and snacks will be available at a minimal cost.

“We encourage people not to park on Main Street after 3 p.m.,” Officer Winant adds.
