Brockport Big Band featured at Sweden Singers’ fundraiser
The Sweden Senior Singers host a fundraising concert featuring the Brockport Big Band on Tuesday, January 21 at the Sweden Senior Center, 133 State Street, Brockport.
The Sweden Senior Singers, from the Brockport area, number over 50 members and have been directed for 11+ years by Maryellen Giese. They provide community service concerts throughout the year at nursing homes, veterans’ facilities, senior centers, and senior living facilities. The group has performed with the Hochstein Youth Singers as well as the Brockport High School Choir.
The Brockport Big Band was founded in 2005 by Lorie Bryant and is currently directed by Walt Perkins. It is made up of 20 musicians who have performed at the Rochester Jazz Festival four times and will be there again this year. They will donate their time for this event and will also perform February 1 for the Brockport Kiwanis Club Mardi Gras Dance.
Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are available from chorus members for $5. Seating is limited. For tickets or additional information, call 637-6586.
