Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard’s Company A 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, which is based at the armories in Dunkirk and Olean are pictured on the flight line at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
The soldiers were conducting refueling operations on January 13 for AH-64 Apaches helicopters assigned to the New York Army National Guard’s 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
The soldiers are from left, Specialist Jeffrey Pieper, from Hilton; Sgt. Nicholaw Smith, from Olean; Specialist James Conti from Blasdell; and Specialist Sarah Bryant, also from Blasdell.
The 300 soldiers of the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, which has elements in Rochester and Ronkonkoma, along with those in Olean and Dunkirk, deployed to Kuwait in December as part of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade Task Force.
