Local United Methodist churches welcome new pastor
Bishop Mark Webb of the United Methodist Church as appointed Reverend Hoyt Brown as the new pastor of Adams Basin United Methodist Church, Spencerport United Methodist Church and a new faith community from the combined Grace/West Avenue United Methodist Churches in Rochester. The appointment began on July 1.
Pastor Hoyt attended Southern Methodist University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and religion and a master’s degree in counseling. Answering his call to the ministry, he then attended the United Theological Seminary in Ohio where he earned his Master of Divinity degree.
Prior to coming to the Rochester area, he served the Ross and Oxford United Methodist Churches in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pastor Hoyt comes to the area from Faith United Methodist Church in Henrietta where he had been pastor since 2003. He, his wife Sandy and two sons, Zach and Noah, continue to reside in Henrietta.
Worship services start at 9 a.m. at Adams Basin UMC, and at 10:30 a.m. at Spencerport UMC.
