Strong West Emergency celebrates one year in Brockport
Strong West staff members will join Michael F. Kamali, M.D., chair of Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and Strong West Director Bryan J. O’Donovan to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the re-opening of emergency services in Brockport.
The community was without an emergency department after Lakeside Memorial Hospital closed in spring 2013. URMC purchased the site and worked closely with the state Department of Health for more than a year to create an off-campus ED, a new model of care and the first of its kind in upstate New York.
The return of higher-level, 24-hour emergency care to the Brockport area came with the opening of Strong West Emergency on August 19, 2014.
