Columbus Day fishing

Photographer Rick Nicholson caught these scenes through his camera lens on a  crystal clear and cool morning Columbus Day, October 12, 2015 as sportsmen were heading out to Lake Alice to see if the salmon had started to run.

Waterport Reservoir (Lake Alice) is a 335-acre hydroelectric reservoir created by damming Oak Orchard Creek in Orleans County, Town of Carlton. The NYS Barge Canal is a major tributary and fisheries influence, according to the NYSDEC. Orleans County maintains a concrete boat launch with parking for eight cars/trailers on Oak Orchard River Road (NYS Route 279). Fishermen visit this popular area year ‘round.
