Hamlin Recreation gets festive with first ever Holiday Celebration event
For the first time ever, the Hamlin Recreation department will host a Holiday Celebration event on Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Hamlin Town Hall Gymnasium at 1658 Lake Road. Local vendors as well as the Hamlin Royals Youth Group will sell festive holiday ornaments and gift items for last minute shoppers.
A Chili Cook-off will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., comprised of local licensed kitchens, caterers and restaurateurs. For $4 per person, the public can taste all entries, and vote, for the best local chili. The winner will be decided at 2 p.m. and receive a special trophy award. All proceeds will help support the Hamlin Royals Youth Group.
The younger children can play in a craft area including a backdrop and props for fun holiday photos. For more polished and professional holiday photos, a professional photographer will also be among the vendors.
Lastly, a holiday festivity would be incomplete without a visit from Santa; he will arrive at 12:30 p.m. in the craft area (the Board Room in Hamlin Town Hall) and lead the children to the Hamlin Public Library at 1 p.m. where he will enjoy holiday stories with the children. Milk and cookies will also be served.
