St. Luke’s Episcopal blesses it forward

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Brockport, shares its blessings by donating copies of the book, What To Do When Your Child Gets Sick for use by Oak Orchard Health clients. The books – 20 in English and 20 in Spanish – were purchased to serve the diverse client population at the health center.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Vestry voted to donate the $250 cost for the books, which were acquired by Oak Orchard Health at a discounted rate, making this valuable resource available for  parents of young children, assisting them in making informed decisions on the health and wellbeing of their family.

Oak Orchard Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nancy Ciavarri and Director of Business and Fund Development Rhyn McDevitt recently received the books from The Reverend Krista Cameron, rector of St. Luke’s, and Linda Kruchten-Merring, a member of St. Luke’s Vestry.
“St. Luke’s has a long history of serving the people of the Village of Brockport and surrounding area. This gift to Oak Orchard Health is just one of the many ways our Parish seeks to serve our neighbors,” said Kruchten-Merring. “This year, we also are supporting The Coffee Connection in Rochester, which helps women by raising money through sales of free-trade coffee and offering employment opportunities, and we continue to give back through our other ministries as well.”

St. Luke’s houses the Brockport Ecumenical Clothing Center, the Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf, serves new moms in need through the church’s North Porch program, which provides infant layettes, and opens its “kitchen” door the second Sunday of each month, serving up a free meal to anyone who would like to attend for food, fellowship and fun through the church’s Harvest Kitchen. St. Luke’s also hosts local Girl and Boy Scout Troops, and other non-for-profit groups.
