Spencerport native returns home with U.S. Navy Band

Musician 1st Class Pamela Kiesling comes home on March 2 to Spencerport, on tour with the United States Navy Band. Spencerport was chosen as one of 23 cities in five states to host a performance by the U.S. Navy Band during its 2016 tour — one of the Navy’s signature outreach programs.

The U.S. Navy Concert Band will perform on March 2, 7 p.m. at Spencerport High School.
Kiesling joined the Navy in 2014 and served at Navy Band Great Lakes before joining the U.S. Navy Band, based in Washington, D.C., in 2016. Originally from Rochester,  she graduated from Spencerport High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and a Master of Music from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Prior to joining the Navy, she performed with the Memphis, Columbus, Nashville and Mississippi Symphonies, and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.

The Navy Concert Band, the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, presents a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions and modern wind ensemble repertoire.

All of the band’s primary performing units embark each year on concert tours throughout specified regions of the country, allowing the band to reach out to audiences in areas of the country that do not have opportunities to see the Navy’s premier musical ensembles on a regular basis.

The concert is a free, family-friendly event, meant to entertain veterans, families, individuals and those interested in joining the Navy.
