Hilton church purchases Hovey Street facility
Parma Christian Fellowship Church in Hilton has purchased the building 39 Hovey Street for its ministries and services, moving various aspects of its extensive program there as renovations are completed over the next few months. The closing took place on Wednesday, March 16 and work began in earnest later that day. New signage appeared on the upper façade by the end of the day.
The building previously held Hilton Big M, the Ben Franklin craft store and Fitness Warehouse.
The initial public worship service will be held Easter Sunday, March 27 beginning at 10 a.m. Regular weekend worship services will occur every Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m., even while other renovations continue. The Family Mid-Week program on Wednesdays, including Kids Clubs for children age 1 through sixth grade and TurningPoint Youth Ministries for grades 7 through 12, will continue at Hilton United Methodist Church, 21 West Avenue, through April this year, when those programs end for the school year.
Parma Christian Fellowship Church sponsors Parma Free Center Nursery School, located at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 167 Lake Avenue, since 2002. Parma Free Center provides curriculum-based classes for ages two through four. The daily afternoon session works as a UPK class in conjunction with Hilton Central Schools. A wrap-around program for school-age children up to sixth grade began in 2014, with before-school and after-school care, led by certified teachers and additional staff.
Parma Free Center and the wrap-around program will move to the new facility at 39 Hovey Street for the next school year, 2016-17, when all renovations finalize. The building will be completely secured for the safety of all persons, and grants full access for all persons of any ability level.
