Winners announced for annual Erie Canal Poster Contest
The annual Erie Canal Poster Contest was held in conjunction with Brockport’s Low Bridge High Water Festival. Under the supervision of the Hill School art teacher Rachel Jarmuzz and the fourth grade classroom teachers, students created posters depicting scenes of the Erie Canal as it was used in the past or as it is used today. Local artists Helen Smagorinsky, Alicia Fink and Lori Skoog judged the contest entries.
Winning posters are on display at A Different Path Art Gallery. Contest winners include: First place – Ava McAfee; Second place – Izabelle Lawrence; Third place – Phoebe Ha; Honorable mentions – Isabelle Cone, Mathea Linden and Dakota Ayles.
All 85 contest entries are on display in the windows of the following local merchants: Adore Hair Studio, Arjuna, Be Be Mills, Bicycle Outfitters, Bittersweet, Coleen’s Cafe, Country Treasures, High Maintenacne, Java Junction, Jimmy Z’s, Life’s Luxuries/In Motion Wireless, Lift Bridge Book Shop, My Nails, Red Bird Tea Shoppe, The Stewart Insurance Agency and the Brockport Village Hall.
