Local artist’s work on display at Parma Public Library
Elise Kull has always filled her life with the arts. She has studied music and dance and has been involved in theater productions. With her interest and background, Elise now turns to painting as her own means of art expression. She brought her artwork to the Parma Public Library Gallery for her own show during the month of May.
The free spirit of Elise’s work might best be called experimental. In her words, “Everything is an experiment. Nothing is ever totally set in stone. I think I will go to the grave like that – experimenting.”
Elise fills her pieces with color and light and she makes little use of black. Her subject matter is mainly abstract but when looking closely, one might find a child on the sand, reminiscent of Mary Cassatt’s Two Children at the Seashore. Her medium is mainly acrylic but her experimenting has brought her to encompass watercolors and most recently the color depth of enamels.
This is the 57th in a series of exhibitions hosted by the Parma Public Library featuring local artists and photographers. For more information or to inquire about having a show, call Rosalind Lipomi, Adult Services Librarian at 392-8350 or visit www.parmapubliclibrary.org.
