Gates Historical Society presents life of Myron Holley

The Gates Historical Society will host Richard Reisem presenting on the life of  Myron Holley. Richard Reisem tells Myron Holley’s story in the context of the momentous historical events and movements that shaped his life, including the War of 1812, the building of the Erie Canal, and the struggle to abolish slavery.

Holley served as the Superintendent of Construction of the Erie Canal, founded the first Horticultural Society in Western New York, the First Unitarian Church in Rochester, and the anti-slavery Liberty Party.

The presentation will be on Monday, July 18, at the Gates Town Hall Annex, 1605 Buffalo Road, Gates at 7 p.m.
