St. Paul’s VBS supports Hilton-Parma Emergency Food Shelf

There were so many reasons for excitement at St. Paul Lutheran’s Vacation Bible School, August 1 through 5. Water fun, wagon rides and 175 campers having a blast – a recipe for a fun-filled week. However, the lasting excitement came in the form of many boxes of food brought in by the children each day to help replenish Hilton’s Food Cupboard.

Nancy Getbehead, VBS director, said the community service component is at the heart of the VBS program.

“We spend all week talking about Jesus’ love and what it means,” Getbehead said. “However, it sticks so much more when the children are actually engaged in sharing that love with others. It is always a blessing to have so many campers spend the week with us, and it is extra special when they work together to bless our community.”

In addition to its school ministry for preschool through eighth grade, St. Paul operates a VBS and a weekly Sunday School program that are open to the community.
