Auditions open for “The Orphans’ Christmas Star”

Cara D’Emanuele Studios, a performing arts education and production studio, is proud to announce the December 2016 production of “The Orphans’ Christmas Star,” returning to the stage after a highly successful 2015 workshop production.

Auditions for girls in grades K through 12 will be held Monday, September 19 and Wednesday, September 21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre at The Aquinas Institute, 1127 Dewey Avenue, Rochester. Girls should prepare a short Christmas or Broadway song and a short poem or monologue. For specific audition requirements and detailed production information, visit www.carademanuele.com.

“The Orphans’ Christmas Star” is an original holiday musical with a book and score by Rochester-based musical theatre director, teaching artist and private coach Cara D’Emanuele. This heart-warming family musical, set in 1930’s Chicago, tells the story of a young woman whose dream to become a Hollywood Star is transformed. Vivian instead, becomes the beloved teacher for an all-girls orphanage.

The score features jazz and Broadway-inspired music as well as traditional holiday songs. This year’s production will be choreographed by Rochester dancer, teaching artist and choreographer Trevor Hubble and presented at Spencerport High School December 2  through 11.

Regardless of experience, all girls from throughout the greater Rochester area are encouraged to audition to be a part of this exceptional musical theatre education and performance opportunity where girls create new friendships, build life-long holiday memories and experience the wonderful world of musical theatre.
