Additional detour for 531 Terminus Project to begin ahead of schedule
The New York State Department of Transportation announced Route 31 between Gallup Road and Sweden-Walker Road (Route 260) in the towns of Ogden and Sweden, Monroe County, will be closed to all westbound traffic beginning Wednesday, June 13.
This closure was previously announced as part of the ongoing 531 Terminus Project, which began its second and final phase on May 14 when Route 31 westbound closed to traffic from Washington Street to Gallup Road in the Town of Ogden.
A detour is in place directing motorists along 531 westbound to use Manitou Road (Route 261), West Ridge Road (Route 104) and Sweden-Walker Road.
Two-way traffic will resume on Route 31 no later than August 30. The entire 531 Terminus Project is on pace to be completed this fall.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
