Spencerport Fire Department, with mutal aid from 14 departments, battled a large field fire at Colby Homestead Farms in Ogden on Monday, July 16. A tractor caught fire and the fire spread quickly through the field, burning an estimated 10 to 12 acres of hay and grass. Route 531 was closed in both directions from Union Streeet to Washington Street for about an hour as smoke impaired visibility and the fire spread from the field to the roadside grass. Crews used drones to assess the fire and check for hot spots after the flames were extinguished.
